COMSTAR-Direct is a leading Internet service provider in Russia, a
subsidiary of COMSTAR-UTS where AFK Sistema (LSE:SSA) is a main shareholder.
COMSTAR-Direct delivers ADSL broadband Internet access services under Stream brand over MGTS
PSTN network in Moscow, Russia, both for corporate customers and residential end users. Since
September 2005 COMSTAR-Direct has offered interactive IPTV services under StreamTV brand. In the
end of 2007, the company reported 695 000 broadband Internet subscribers and 119 400 IPTV
subscribers in Moscow.
IPTV STREAM service – the largest commercial IPTV deployment in Eastern Europe – is powered
by Netris'
IPSoft iVision IPTV Middleware where IPSoft
iVision is a service delivery platform as well as a solution which integrates all IPTV components.
IPTV STREAM services include 89 digital TV channels, hundreds of VoD movies with a take rate
over 40%, interactive games, and others.
End users can navigate through EPG with detailed TV channel and VoD
growing library descriptions, set reminders, use parent control functionality, preview, buy and
watch available VoD content, subscribe/unsubscribe services and TV channel packages, sort TV
channels or create personal TV channel listing, tune menu transparency and other useful settings,
etc.
IPSoft iVision is tightly integrated with IPTV STREAM VoD subsystem, CAS solution, and
COMSTAR-Direct OSS/BSS systems. To optimize existing distributed VoD architecture, IPTV STREAM uses
IPSoft Distributed Media Architect (DMA) option which allows intelligent subscriber queries
redirection to nearest available VoD server or, if it's busy, unavailable or if it doesn't have
requested content, to next available server. The solution also allows to automatically move a
popular content closer to its consumers.
Together with IPSoft iVision implementation and evolution, Netris has initially deployed
Kasenna distributed VoD solution for IPTV STREAM
and provides ongoing maintenance and support.
